You can help yourself cure panic attacks by changing certain lifelong habits. If a given situation always seems to bring on a panic attack, invite a friend to help you through the situation. Support could help to ease your fears. Do you lose it when you are in a crowd for instance? If this sounds like your situation, you could have a close friend attend the function with you. Having a friend at your side will help you to feel safe. Also,if they know what you will be going through, they may help to remind you verbally that you are safe. Not going to crowded places will not prevent a future panic attack. The only way to truly overcome a panic attack causing situation is to face it with support and the confidence that there is no physical need to panic.
If sad television programs or movies bring you down, then you should definitely stop watching them. The evening news is often filled with violence, and if you panic over not feeling safe this could set you off.
Unfortunately, not all panic attacks have an identifiable source. Sometimes you can just get in a panic for no apparent reason. Finding self help for panic attacks in this situation is a bit harder. The first step would be to try the above talked about self-help methods to see if they help in any way.
Just knowing that there is self help for panic attacks can make you feel more calm and in control of your life. You don’t have to settle for taking medications or going through endless therapy sessions. Try all the self-help methods first and you may find that you never have to consult a doctor at all.
